At the hearing on Monday morning, March 25, Bahati claimed that he had been ordered to withdraw from the race about a week after being given a Jubilee party ticket.
The musician, wanani Hitmaker burst into tears as he told reporters that he had been asked to return his nomination certificate to give it to a candidate who is vying for the seat under Azimio la Umoja.
The artist who sang ‘Machozi ‘ feels betrayed claiming to have been loyal to the Jubilee party.
he has vowed not to get out of the race as he cried on the interview.
“I know there is a stronghold in politics and Mathare is mentioned as an ODM stronghold. But in the meantime, let us give a chance to the youth of this nation and the union of Azimio la Umoja, ”Bahati said
Bahati, however, he insists he will not withdraw from the race vowing to continue his dream of representing the Mathare constituency in parliament.
“Give the people of Mathare a leader they have always wanted. The people of Mathare have suffered. I did not come to politics to get a job because I already had one. They want someone who understands them, ”the artist said in tears.
The singer, who is known for his hit song ‘Adhiambo’, reminded the leaders , President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, how loyal he had been to the Jubilee party.
“I respect Raila and Uhuru Kenyatta. I am a staunch supporter of the Azimio and Jubilee. I was in more than 555 Presidential meetings across the country seeking votes. Please do not kill the hearts of the youth in the Azimio la Umoja , ”Bahati pleaded.
His tear-jerking action has sparked mixed reactions on the internet with some claiming he should not shed tears but grow thick skin to be successful in his journey to parliament.
“My Brother Bahati shedding tears is not the solution, Politics is not an entertainment industry, Therefore you need to develop thick skin for you to be successful” read a leading comment from Joel Macharia.
