DEPUTY President William Ruto, and his entourage, have responded to President Uhuru Kenyatta who has accused him (Ruto) of failing to address the rising cost of living in the country.
Speaking at the Leba Dei celebrations at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday, May 1, 2022, President Kenyatta accused Ruto of being the source of the problem.
But in response shortly afterwards, Dr Ruto pointed the finger of blame at President Kenyatta saying it was he (the president) who stripped him of his responsibilities and handed them over to other people.
“I feel your pain. Those of you who gave my responsibilities to Mzee your project, have completely failed, ”Dr Ruto said.
“They disrupted the Fourth Agenda, killed our party and ruined your second term. Boss, I am immediately available by phone. It is unfortunate that the last Cabinet meeting was held two years ago, ”Dr Ruto said through his social media accounts.
Dr Ruto made the remarks just minutes after President Kenyatta stated that he (Dr Ruto) and his entourage had been misleading Kenyans about the source of rising cost of living.
The president has defended himself, claiming that his government has done much to protect Kenyans from the effects of the Covid-19 economic crisis and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
President Kenyatta said his government had done much to ease the burden on Kenyans of rising living costs despite Dr Ruto relinquishing his responsibilities instead of offering a solution.
“It was not Kenyans who brought the Covid-19 epidemic that contributed to job losses. The rising cost of living has also been caused by the ongoing war in Ukraine. These are the reasons that are beyond our control, ”the President said.
“Instead of coming to help me with your advice, you spend most of your time insulting me in your campaigns. this is despite the fact that you call yourself a high-ranking official in the government; supposedly you are a certain number.
“You would leave for a while to find someone else who can help me work,” President Kenyatta said.
And supporters of Dr Ruto have lashed out at the president, saying he was sorry he had treated his deputy, as well as his subordinates.
Senator Elgeyo Marakwet Kipchumba Murkomen has reminded President Kenyatta that in 2019 he was the one who stripped Dr Ruto of his responsibilities through Presidential Order No. 1.
“This is why you are now confused and lost direction. You are the one to blame, ”Mr Murkomen added.
And Senator Millicent Omanga said: “You cannot commit adultery and then expect your wife not to raise a complaint. The small house was ruined. ”
Ms Omanga was referring to President Kenyatta’s move to abandon Dr Ruto through a handgun between him and ODM leader Raila Odinga on March 9, 2018.
For his part former President of the Law Society of Tanzania (LSK) Nelson Havi has said that President Kenyatta does not have the credentials of a leader.
“A leader should lead with justice and the king’s wife will lead with justice – Isaiah 32: 1. O President Kenyatta you do not have these qualities,” said Havi
