Kenyan rap sensation artiste Khaligraph Jones has elicited mixed reactions from his fans after appearing in an interview in a local vernacular TV station and openly struggled to keep up with the flow and fluency of the vernacular language.
The OG, as he describes himself appeared on an interview in Ramogi TV, the new TV station in the country airing content in Dholuo language and he found it hard keeping the ball rolling as he struggled along.
Jones could be seen murmuring and in other instances asking the interviewer to expound further in English.
This has raised more questions than answers online from his fans who said the rapper was being petty, citing that there’s no way he can rap fluently in American English and fail to keep up with the fluency of his mother tongue.
Others, however, came to his rescue as they defended him that he was born and raised in an urban setting and going to his rural home has not been frequent, leading to his losing grip of the Dholuo language.
During the interview, Khaligraph Jones said his rural home is in Uyoma and that he had not been into that area until 2012.
Khaligraph has been the talk of town in the rap music industry since his debut about a decade ago when he toppled the longtime rap fans’ favourite, Octopizzo, leading to the two rap heavyweights beefing till today.
Jones released his debut album in 2014 which he named ‘Point of No Return’ and it did very well considering it was his first album and four years later he released another album titled ‘Testimony 1990’ in 2018 which is the album that put him in the spotlight of the global sphere.
Early this year, he released his third album ‘Invisible Currency ‘is his third album with which is doing well also in all digital platforms of music streaming.
