POLICE in Thika on Tuesday seized cannabis from seven sacks hidden in a car.According to police at Kimuchu station, Makongeni, Thika, Kiambu County, residents suspected a KCH 657E vehicle parked on the side of the road.
Kiambu County Police Commander, Perminus Muchangi Kioi, confirmed the incident, saying the cannabis was worth Sh2.5 million.The officer explained that the suspects in the car escaped after discovering that they were wanted by the police.
He said the vehicle had already been detained at the Kimuchu police station while they were searching for the suspects.
The officer has issued a stern warning to drug traffickers saying their days have come.
“We are already conducting an investigation to apprehend the suspects involved in the possession of the cannabis. We will make sure they are arrested, ”explained the police commander.
He commended the people of Kimuchu for the good cooperation they have shown and urged them to maintain the same stance.
Already the detective police (DCI), are conducting an investigation to determine the whereabouts of the marijuana.The vehicle was towed to the Makongeni police station in Thika, with the cannabis in police custody.
The commander said the suspects would be arrested before being taken to court to face charges.
“I commend the efforts taken by the public to report after suspecting a car parked on the side of the road,” said the police commander.
Adding the government would not rest until it arrests the suspects. therefore he urged the people to co-operate with them to see that it was successful in its movement.
