Police in Kericho County are investigating a case in which a gang of thugs attacked a Catholic church in the Litein area.
Unidentified robbers stormed St Mark Catholic Parish church on Wednesday night and stole an unconfirmed amount of cash.
The DCI unit reported that the robbers also destroyed a sacred tent used to house the Eucharist in the surprise attack.At the time of the raid, the priests in charge of the church were sleeping in a nearby house.
Father Moses Langat who oversee the parish of the church lodged a report at the Litein police station on Wednesday.
Father Langat said the robbers entered the church after breaking a window while all the priests were asleep, detectives at the scene have set up camp at the church in search of evidence to help apprehend the suspects.
