William Ruto Dismissed journalists at a conference organized in Nakuru.

Deputy President William Ruto yesterday barred journalists from covering the Kenya Kwanza political party he led at Hugo farm, Njoro area, Nakuru County.

William Ruto instructed his bodyguards to expel the journalists who had attended the conference, insisting that his aim was to discuss local interests, rather than political issues.

William Ruto was continuing his speech when he issued the order, saying the session was aimed at discussing key issues.““Mbona wanahabari hawa wako hapa? Ni nani aliwaleta hapa? Tokeni kwanza ndio tuzungumze mambo ya maana. Siwataki hapa,” ordered Dr Ruto.

Journalists from various organizations were forced to leave the area and stay for more than three hours waiting to be briefed on the proceedings.

After William Ruto and his associates left the session, they addressed the media, saying that they were discussing peace issues.

“I came here to assure the people of Njoro and Molo that the Kenya Kwanza wing is committed to ensuring peace and unity as the August general election approaches.

My competitors have been spreading hatred in their campaigns. So, I came to urge the people of Njoro and Molo to maintain peace, considering that these areas have residents from different communities, ”said Dr Ruto.

“I would also like to urge my competitors to ensure that peace prevails before, during and after the general election regardless of the outcome,” he said.

However, some people present at the meeting said that the main issue discussed was the declining popularity of the union in some parts of Njoro and Molo.

Earlier, William Ruto held a meeting with the Kenya Manufacturers Association (KAM) at his residence on Karen Street, Nairobi.

He was accompanied by his running mate, Rigathi Gachagua, Senator Susan Kihika of Nakuru among other leaders. Ruto’s wing has been claiming to be oppressed by some media outlets who say they are being used to promote their opponents of the Azimio la umoja coalition.
