This year, reports suggest that the numbers might be a bit higher despite the official release of the figures not out yet by the authorities.

Many officers who have committed suicide have left behind their families who are yet to come to terms with the deaths that have robbed them of their loved ones.

A widow by the name of Immaculate Wiziri, has been mourning the death of her husband for the last six months.

James Masha committed suicide in January and since then, the National Police Service has not offered her any counselling because he did not die in the line of duty.

The 32 year old officer had complained to his wife of exhaustion at work but he never displayed any signs that he might take his own life.

Immaculate Wiziri now lives in Malindi with her two children not yet coming to terms with the death of her husband who was the breadwinner of the family.

The two had been together since they were teenagers and Immaculate says that such a loss has affected her greatly, especially, mentally.
