OCPD Kasarani Peter Mwanzo, who received a promotion and was relocated to Nakuru County
Officer Commanding Police Division-Kasarani Sub-County, Peter Mwanzo, has been relocated to Nakuru amid escalating incidences of insecurity in Nakuru County, which has seen Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i holed up in a series of talks with concerned stakeholders.
The Kasarani OCPD has been appointed to the position of Nakuru County Police Commander, replacing Beatrice Kiraguri, according to local sources.
In an effort to find a long-term solution to the county’s spiraling insecurity, which has caused people to live in fear, the CS, Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai, and Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti led a high-level security team to Nakuru just hours prior to the development.
David Gikaria, a member of parliament for Nakuru Town East, was detained by police on Tuesday for a few hours to assist with their inquiries into his alleged involvement in the surge in insecurity in the populated county.
The county has seen an increase in criminal gang activity over the past several weeks, with women suffering the most from their string of assassinations.
But perhaps the escalating insecurity will soon be a thing of the past with the addition of new blood to the county security team following the selection of Mwanzo as the new police Commander.
