Ex- Boxing Champion Mike Tyson Believes He Will Die ‘Really Soon’

Former American world boxing champion Mike Tyson now says that he is inching closer to his death. The ex-heavyweight champ told Sean McFarland, a trauma and addiction therapist, during his live podcast dubbed ‘Hotboxin with Mike Tyson’ on Thursday that his death was near.

”We’re all gonna die one day of course; then, when I look in the mirror, I see those little spots on my face, I say, wow. That means my expiration date is coming close, really soon,” Tyson said. The 56-year old further expressed his perspective of the mortal life with philosophies of happiness and security.

He opined that money does not equate to happiness and security as is the popular belief of many people worldwide. “I always tell people — they think money’s gonna make them happy, they’ve never had money before — when you have a lot of money, you can’t expect nobody to love you. How am I gonna confess my love to you when you have $500 billion (about Ksh. 59 trillion)?” Tyson posed.

He added: “The false sense of security. You believe nothing can happen. You don’t believe the banks could collapse. You believe that you’re invincible when you have a lot of money, which isn’t true. That’s why I always say money is a false sense of security.”The former heavyweight champion similarly spoke of how his wife, Lakiha Spicer, sometimes would say she wants more money to feel secure.

Having filed for bankruptcy in 2003, Iron Mike, as he was popularly known is now worth an estimated $10 million (about Ksh.1.2 billion).Since his retirement from professional boxing, he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and has been on record saying he does not fear death.
