The residents of Chamasilihi village, in Vihiga, County were left speechless after thugs raided an old woman’s house and slaughtered her chicken, then cooked one with ugali stew.
A journalist reported that the robbers disappeared with 14 chickens.The raid happened when the owner of the house, Jane Mudanya, had traveled to Kisumu.
“Niliingia nyumbani na kwa mshangao mkubwa nilgundua kua kuku wangu hawakua hapo na nilipoingia jikoni nkapata harufu ya kuku na sufuria za ugali ,” Mudanya said.
The woman narrated how she struggled to raise the chicks from the first day until they were seven months old
.”Nilitarajia kuwauza kuku hao ili nipate faida ndipo niweze kulipia wanangu karo ya shule, ilia sikujua kwamba ningebaki nikikadiria hasara.”
Mudanya complained, Mudanya has asked the security officers to patrol the area, to arrest the thugs who rob the locals.”
“Vijana wa eneo hili ni wavivu. Wanakataa kufanya kazi na kutegemea kuvuna kutokana na jasho la mtu mwingine. Wanapswa kukomeshwa,” he added.
The woman has asked the county government to create employment opportunities for young people, as one of the ways to reduce cases of insecurity and theft.
