The rainy season To begin – Forecasts Report.

The Meteorological Department has announced that the much awaited rainy season will begin this weekend in various parts of the country.



The rainy season starts from March to May every year in Western, Nyanza, Rift Valley and Central Kenya where farmers depend on it for planting food crops.



According to the Department’s latest forecast, little rain is expected in Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Laikipia, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet counties. , Kakamega and Bungoma this weekend and next week.



Heavy rains are also expected to be witnessed in several areas of the counties of Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Meru, Embu, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu and Tharaka Nithi.

“Therefore, farmers in the areas that will receive rain are advised to cooperate with the officials of the Ministry of Agriculture to get instructions on the best seeds to plant as well as the best agricultural methods to embrace in order to get a good harvest,” said the statement.



According to the forecast, a few parts in the North East zone which includes Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Isiolo and Marsabit counties will also experience little rain from Monday, March 12, 2023.



However, the Department of Meteorology predicts that the areas of South Kajiado and the counties of Makueni, Machakos, Taita Taveta, Kitui will remain dry without rain from Monday until the end of this month.

Coastal counties such as; Mombasa, Tana River, Lamu, Kilifi and Kwale will start witnessing heavy rains at the beginning of April.
