Homicide detectives on Sunday exhumed 18 more bodies of victims in a Kilifi church sect.

This brings the number of exhumed bodies to 39.

Controversial pastor Paul Mackenzie is still being held by the police.

On Saturday, 14 bodies were found, including five bodies, believed to belong to the same family. They were buried together.

In another grave, 3 bodies were found on top of each other.

“We found him, a man, a woman and three children in one grave,” the detective said

Among the exhumed bodies, today total number stands at 39 there were more children than adults.

By Friday 58 graves had been identified.

The troublesome Malindi preacher has been preaching to his followers to fast and pray for several days and finally, some of them died of hunger.

Last month, Mackenzie was arrested by police officers due to the death of two children in the same situation but was released on a Sh10,000 police bond.

It is alleged that the victims were mentally disturbed, according to the police report.
