Two policemen who were killed in Nithi were in their Business activities – investigation Reports.

Initial investigations have shown that the police who were killed by a mob in Kanthanje market, Tharaka Nithi County, were in their Business activities.

Constables Emmanuel Kiprop and James Mireithi were serving at Kathwana Police Station.

Saturday, the two went to the market, located in Igambang’ombe Sub-County around 7:00 in the evening, where they entered the M-Pesa store owned by Mr Ezekiah Muriithi Njeru.

Shortly after, a conflict broke out between them due to reasons that were not immediately clear.

Mr. Njeru shouted saying “thieves”, a situation that attracted the locals where they beat the policemen to death using blunt instruments.

The shop owner also received injuries on his head believed to have been caused by a blunt weapon wielded by one of the policemen.

After the incident, the locals fled the market and left the bodies behind. Later, the Deputy Chief of Kathanje Sub-District reported the incident at the Kathwana Police Station at around 2pm.
