“The party is strong,” Sabina Chege confirms after Kioni, Murathe were expelled.

MP-elect Sabina Chege assured the members that the Jubilee party is fine despite the current internal conflicts.

Sabina said that as the acting leader of the party, she will stand firm and protect the political outfit to ensure it is strong.

“The party is fine and we are looking after it well… We are fine and things will be fine,” she said.

The MP said this on Friday during the funeral of the father of Dagoretti South Member of Parliament John Kiarie David Waweru in Kandara in Muranga.

President William Ruto was among the leaders who attended the event.

She said this immediately after the National Leadership Council (NEC) where a group led by Acting Secretary General Kanini Kega announced the dismissal of secretary general Jeremiah Kioni and vice chairman David Murathe from the party.

kagwe Gichohi, who was also facing disciplinary action, was suspended for two years.

Making the announcement, Kega said the planned NDC called by retired president Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday will not take place.

“There will be no NDC on Monday. The party will advise the members about the NDC dates after completing this dispute,” he said.

He said the disciplinary team found Kioni and Murathe guilty of the charges against them.

“Kioni was found guilty of misconduct and disrespecting the party’s institutions,” Kega said.

Kega’s wing and another led by Kioni have been fighting for the leadership of the old ruling party.
