Police question family members after Grade 1 pupil allegedly committed suicide in Homa Bay.

The police in Homa Bay town have called five family members after a Grade 1 pupil allegedly died by suicide at their home.

Tony Ouma, who was a pupil at Pap Ndege Primary School, in Homa Bay County, was found dead by his siblings on Tuesday evening. he was seven years old.

It is said that Tony used a towel to commit suicide at their home in Pap Ndege area.

His father, Joshua Ouma said he was informed about the death of his son by his children.

The father was on his activities in town of Homa Bay when he received news about the death of his son.

“I got a message telling me to run home because Tony had died. I was not immediately told what killed him,” Ouma said.

He ran home and started investigating what happened.

The boy’s neck was tied with a shower net made of manila, the net was tied to a wire and the body was standing on it’s knees.

The body was naked and had bruises. According to the deceased’s father, the corpse was discovered by one of his sons who was going to the toilet.

“We call on the police to investigate so that justice is served,” he added.

Homa Bay police commander Peter Maluki confirmed officers of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation are investigating the cause of death.

Speaking to reporters in his office on Thursday, Maluki reported the DCI called the family members for an interrogation.

The police chief said the circumstances that led to the death of the young man are not clear.

They are questioning the family members including the child’s father, mother and siblings who were at home at the time of the incident.

On Wednesday, the deceased’s father recorded a statement.

“The case is under investigation because there are things that are not clear about the cause of death of the boy,” Maluki said.

The boy’s body was transferred to Homa Bay County Referral Hospital mortuary.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
