Residents of Mayanja Kibuke market, Bungoma county were left in shock on Sunday after a trailer left the road and killed four family members.
Speaking on Sunday, Patrick Masika said that the deceased were traveling back home to Malava in Kakamega county.
They had attended the funeral of their loved ones in Bungoma County.
Masika said the dead were two women and two men who were traveling on a motorcycle heading towards Kanduyi.
“We have witnessed very serious accidents here, it is our call to KeNHA to put bumps on the road to prevent frequent accidents,” he said.
Masika reported that many people have lost their lives on the same road but the relevant authorities have not taken action to put (bumps) on the busy road.
He said the residents of Mayanja market could not recognize the deceased.
Kakamega governor Fernandez Barasa, in a letter of condolence that reached Kenya Gossip Club, said that the deceased are from Machemo community, Chemuche ward, Malava constituency, Kakamega county.
“I have heard with great sadness the death of four residents of Kakamega County who died in a road accident at Mayanja business center along the Malaba-Eldoret road while they were returning home after shopping for their loved ones in Bungoma County,” he said.
Barasa warned road users to be careful to avoid such accidents in the future.
