Content creator Chebet Ronoh spoke in a TikTok video about being arrested trying to protect a handcuffed friend in Nairobi’s CBD.
According to Ronoh, she slept on the floor for 11 hours, which was very unpleasant. She added that the place was cold and God only knows what she went through.
She explained that it is very easy to get arrested in Nairobi, you could be in the right place but at the wrong time. “If you think you can talk to the police in this country, you’re crazy!” she said.
According to her, the police handcuffed her friend and she resisted to know why her friend was handcuffed. Only then did they realize that a truck was coming from behind and took them to the police station.
According to Ronoh, it all seemed like fun until the mood changed when she was wearing just a t-shirt, pants and a pair of shoes. She said there were only two people in the room and she couldn’t stand the smell of a nearby bathroom.
Ronoh said she started to plea to secure her release and was overjoyed when she was finally released.
