Darassa shares family sacrifice that forced him stay out of music for 7 years

Darasa spent only 3 years in the music industry out of his 10 years in the entertainment industry.

Tanzanian rapper Darasa, better known by his real name Sharif Sabit Ramadan, revealed the reason behind his seven-year long hiatus in a recent interview with Wasafi FM.

Despite producing many hit songs during his busy career, Darasa said he is taking a break to explore the music landscape and most importantly, spend time with his young family.

In an interview, Darasa said that out of 10 years of musical activity, stage, broadcasting and radio activities were only 3 years, and the remaining 7 years were mainly devoted to raising two children.

“Of the 10 years I’ve been in music, only three have been active on stage, television and radio, and the other seven years I’ve dedicated to raising my two children,” says Darasa.

When Darassa first entered the music industry, he began to deeply understand its nuances and dynamics. In 2014 he released his first music collection, collaborating with fellow artist Ben Pol on his debut single ‘Sikati Tamaa’. This was the beginning of Darassa’s musical journey and laid the foundation for his later career endeavors.

After a short break in 2015, Darasa, who further developed his musical knowledge and devised a new strategy, won the championship in 2016. They achieved success with the release of the sultry song ‘Utani Penda’ featuring Richie Mavoko.

Shortly after, he released the hit single “Music” featuring Ben Pol. It is a song that has received a lot of attention not only in Tanzania but also around the world. It captures the hearts of listeners at once with catchy and catchy lyrics.

Since then, Darassa has continued to produce popular music projects with many artists such as Jux, Marioo and Nameless. Hits like “Too Much” and “Relax” cemented his place as a respected and influential figure in the music industry.

Apart from his skills, Darasa also dabbled in talent management and started a company called Classic Music Group (CMG) Management.
