She is one of seven girls in her family. Her father, a mechanic for the Postal Corporation of Kenya, died in a car accident when she was 17 years old.

She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in commerce, both from the University of Nairobi.

Millicent Omanga started her career in the private sector, working in the banking industry.

She then transitioned to business and started her own company called Milways Enterprise.

The company specialized in events management and branding and had been quite successful.

Millicent Omanga once revealed that she made her first million when she was just 19 years old.

Speaking during an interview on Jessy Junction, Mama Miradi as she is popularly known, said she began her entrepreneurial journey at The University of Nairobi and made her first million within a year

“By 20 I bought a new car and I was still in the university. I would use a small amount of my school fees to buy a few things in Eastleigh that I would later sell at a profit.

“By exam time I had made profits and I would use that to pay my fees,” she said.

Omanga said she made her first million after supplying bedsheets to a hotel in Eldoret and from then on she started ordering items from abroad.

“I had capital (after making Sh1million) and I knew I would get a good car in Dubai…I paid the deposit and got some more items,” she said.

Adding : “I was selling everything including bedsheets…I was one of the biggest bedsheet suppliers in the country.

Talking on her love for football, the former Nominated Senator said it is something she has loved for the longest time and sets aside money to attend soccer events whenever she gets an opportunity.

“I went to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup, Brazil in 2014 and Russia in 2018 I also play football but as a goalkeeper,” she said.

Asked if she takes offence whenever people talk about her body on social media, Omanga said it never really bothers her.

“I love myself and I love the way I am. Even when they make fun of me it’s because they admire me.

My husband l never complained at the Senate when they referred to me as ‘majority leader’,” she hilariously joked.

In December years back, hundreds of excited football fans in Kericho County seized an opportunity to pose for photos with Omanga during a local soccer tournament.

Although they had all showed up to watch two local teams battle out in the finals, Omanga’s arrival stole the event.

The fans at the stadium stared as she made her way to the stadium and jostled for a photo session with the curvy politician after the match, something she is now used to and is proud of.

Millicent’s
entrepreneurial skills played a key role in her success and enabled her venture into politics.

Political Career.

In 2017, Millicent Omanga went for political office, She contested for a seat in the Nairobi County Assembly on the Jubilee Party ticket and won. Millicent’s victory was a testament to her popularity among the people of Nairobi and her ability to connect with voters.

Omanga was also involved in several charitable initiatives, including providing food and other essential items to families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

She was also at the forefront of advocating for the rights of people with disabilities and had been instrumental in initiating several programs that seek to empower them.
