
Peter Otieno narrowly escaped the devastating Londiani junction accident that claimed the lives of more than 50 people on Friday, June 30.
Several survivors of the shocking accident were rushed to hospitals in Kericho county.The incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. when a truck lost control and plowed into pedestrians, businesspeople, and parked matatus.”I was at the Londiani junction when the accident happened.
As I was joining the junction, I saw a speeding trailer,” narrated Otieno. He narrowly avoided a collision with the trailer due to his quick reaction, which saved his life.”
The driver behind me, in a Canter, thought I wanted to buy something and overtook me. That’s when he collided with the trailer and was thrown onto my car, while his vehicle was thrown into other cars,” explained Otieno.
In a video shared by Nation.Africa, the fortunate driver mentioned that he counted more than 20 bodies at the accident scene.”I personally saw about 20 bodies with my own eyes, but there were still others trapped under the trailer,” he clarified.According to the survivor, the ill-fated trailer was traveling from Mau Summit to Kericho, while he was heading towards Nairobi from Kendu Bay.
