The Truth Behind the Arrest of Nanyuki’s ‘Spider-Man

On Thursday, an intriguing incident caught the attention of Kenyans online.

Twitter user shared photos of a man dressed as Spider-Man, seemingly going about his business, only to find himself inside a police vehicle.

The Twitter account @InsecurityKE posted four photos of the arrest and questioned why the Administration Police Service (APS) apprehended the individual, who was seen walking the streets, reading a book, and carrying a shopping basket.

The tweet quickly went viral, receiving over 800 retweets at the time of this article’s publication, leaving everyone curious about what actually transpired.

Citizen Digital reached out to the Nanyuki APS to uncover the truth behind the incident. The APS clarified that they did not arrest the man but were conducting a wellness check.

According to an anonymous source within the APS, the man is mentally unstable and had been reported missing by his family. The family sought the assistance of the police to locate him.

Upon spotting him in Nanyuki town, the officers took him into custody while contacting the family to inform them of his whereabouts.

Shortly after his apprehension, family members arrived at Nanyuki prison with hospital documents to confirm his mental illness, and he was taken back home.
