Shanzu Magistrate Yusuf Shikanda encouraged Paul Mackenzie and his aides, who are suspected of being part of the Shakahola cult, to stay patient despite their continued detention.
He referred to the phrase “This too shall pass” and compared it to the story of Jesus and his temptations, implying that their current difficulties were temporary.
The suspects turned violent in court, chanting slogans of “Haki yetu,” but Shikanda remained calm and understanding throughout the situation. The defense lawyer, Wycliffe Makasembo, assured the suspects of justice and urged them to stop shouting.
Later, the suspects shouted at Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Yamina Jamii, during the court proceedings.
