Gladys Shollei breaks her silence about Finland education scandal

The deputy speaker of the national assembly, Gladys Boss Shollei, broke her silence on the Finland Scholarship Scandal on Monday after her constituents questioned her silence on the issue that has created a political storm across the country.

Speaking during an interview with Spice FM, Shollei explained her previous silence, and explained that she refrained from talking about the issue due to not knowing its details and not knowing well the period started by Jackson Mandago’s administration.

“I kept silent on purpose because I did not know how this happened. When I did an investigation about what happened, I did not get reliable information from the right people,” she said.

”I think when a governor announces scholarships they are that way. It never occurred to me in my wildest dreams that it wasn’t true,” she added.

The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly argued that she saw fund raising being conducted in the entire county but did not follow up at the time, because she felt that the program was a legitimate program of the county government to provide scholarships to needy students. in a large ward.

”The former governor and his predecessor are the ones who were aware. They should have guided us as they get the account,” Gladys added.

Furthermore, she accused Mandago of failing to set up an effective system and failing to inform parents about the future financial obligations they would be required to fulfill after the students started traveling to Finland for the program.

Gladys distanced herself from the plan initiated by Mandago, insisting that her plan was a different one aimed at empowering the residents of Uasin Gishu.

Regarding the issue, She recommended the return of the money to the parents and the termination of the program to prevent further financial loss.
