Nancy Indoveria Kigunzu, famously known as Mathe Wa Ngara says she doesn’t understand why the police searched for her.
In court papers obtained by Media, the business woman claims she is being used as a ‘ shield’ because she is a law-abiding citizen.
“I have never committed any crime in Kenya nor have I ever been involved in any crime personally or in collaboration with other people and therefore I do not understand why the police are arresting me,” she said in court papers submitted by Lawyer Shanice Maingi.
She asked the court to issue an order to stop her arrest, which has already happened, to be charged before the court without detectives to investigate, and to give her the opportunity to be heard.
Nancy also wants the court to issue an order to grant her the bail she expected, as she was aware of the arrests made in Ngara through the media.
“A few days ago it was reported in the media that one of the people arrested was the wrong person, known as ‘Mathee wa Ngara’,” she says.
In addition, Mathe Wa Ngara has accused the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and the Inspector General of Police for using their offices to arrest and detain her two sons illegally.
The two are children aged 16 and 17 respectively.
She believes the purpose of arresting her sons is to threaten and finally prosecute her.
Her sons who were among those arrested, claims, are still being held at the Pangani Police Station.
