Ann Waiguru to soon smile all the way to the bank and here is why.

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has threatened to sue her Representative Jane Njeri Maina who was beaten by goons on Tuesday, August 22 at a public meeting in Kerugoya town.

In a letter of demand written by her lawyer, Waiguru asked the member of parliament to withdraw the defamation claim she made against her.

Maina was accused of alleging, through her social media pages, that the governor paid the youths to attack her,

”Therefore, our further instructions are to request from you, which we do, that you immediately cease and desist from your baseless defamation of our Client on any media, including your social media pages,” the letter prepared by V. A. Nyamodi & Co. read in part.

The Govornor also asked Jane to immediately publish an unconditional apology through the same channel used to defame her.

”Further, you should publish a proper apology in a nationally circulated newspaper. The said words posted on your Facebook page, which the page is accessible to the general public, were directed at our Client,” Advocate Paul Nyamodi claimed.

In particular, Waiguru noted that the remarks, which seemed to imply that she was after the life of the 29-year-old Member of Parliament, damaged her reputation in the eyes of right-thinking members of society.

“Our client is the Governor of Kirinyaga County and the Chairman of the Council of Governors, she is highly respected by the general public.

“Your negligence has caused and continues to damage the image and reputation of our client,” the letter to Njeri Maina read in part.

Therefore, she asked jane to also accept the responsibility, noting that her lawyer will soon talk to her about the amount of damages and costs arising from the claims.
