Ugandan church sets Guinness Record for the longest clapping.

A church in Uganda has set a Guinness World Record for the longest clapping after its worshipers clapped non-stop for more than three hours.

“The congregation clapped for a total of three hours and 16 minutes, maintaining an average volume of 88.5 dB. For the test to be valid, they had to remain above 80 dB at all times,” Guinness World Records said in a statement.

The event named “Clap For Jesus”, in the capital city of Uganda, Kampala, was organized on July 30 by the Phaneroo Ministries church in celebration of its ninth year.

Grace Lubega, the leader of the church, told Guinness World Records that the event aimed to unite people in thanksgiving and celebration.

The 926 participants were asked to clap continuously and the moderators dismissed those who paused.

The event was streamed live and monitored by observers from the Uganda standards organization and the national basketball governing body.

The group beat the previous record of two hours and five minutes, set by Clark Stevens and the UK’s Festival of Wonder in 2019.
