ODM party leader Raila Odinga has asked the MPs and senators who met with President Ruto in Nairobi to resign so that their positions can be announced for the new elections.
Speaking on Friday, Odinga said that the MPs who were expelled from the party did so after violating the party’s policies and regulations.
He criticized them for defending themselves that they went to Statehouse in Nairobi to seek development, saying that in the new constitution of Kenya, development is coordinated by the parliament and not Statehouse.
”Sasa wewe unajitokeza kisirisiri usiku unasikia ati nimeitwa sijui na nani, waziri Fulani, eti mnaenda ikulu. Hakuna mtu anataka usiende ikulu, lakini unaambia chama mimi nimealikwa kule ili tushauriane.
Unaenda kufanya nini, eti mimi naenda kutafuta maendeleo. Maendeleo ya mama yako? Kama kilikuwa ni kitu cha wazi, unaleta hicho kitu watu wanashauriana. Halafu wanakubaliana. Katiba mpya hii mipango yote ya maendeleo inapangwa na bunge”
Two days ago, ODM issued a letter explaining the expulsion of four MPs and one senator who met with Ruto at Statehouse.
Those expelled include Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo, South Suba MP Caroli Omondi, Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor aka Jalang’o, Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda and Kisumu senator Tom Ojienda.
