A 9-year-old third grade student from Donholm, Nairobi County was rescued after being kidnapped by his teacher.
According to the DCI, the student’s father had gone to pick up his son from school when he found him missing.
He was informed that his son had left with his class teacher Erick Mosoti.
Later the father received a request for compensation of Sh10 million and made the father file a report at the Buruburu police station.
Efforts to find the teacher were unsuccessful.
A team of detectives from the Nairobi Regional Command in collaboration with colleagues from DCI Buruburu launched a detailed operation in the Kayole Sabasaba area.
The operation led to the rescue of the child who was locked in a room believed to be rented by another teacher who is George Odhiambo, who works in the same school as the main suspect.
The child was rescued immediately and taken to the hospital for testing while the search continues.
Several hours later, the suspect, Fredrick Odhiambo, was found demanding ransom instead of the child’s freedom.
A motorcycle, a mobile phone, and other items believed to be used in the heinous act were found and placed in evidence while the operation continues to bring other suspects.
