Quincy Timberlake’s husband, former journalist Esther Arunga, has confessed to killing his son.
Quincy, who was once a presidential candidate in Kenya, has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his three-year-old son, Sinclair, at his home in Kallangur, north of Brisbane, Australia.
Timberlake, who was scheduled to stand trial on manslaughter charges in Brisbane Magistrates’ Court this week, on Tuesday surprised the court by pleading guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter.
The prosecution accepted this plea and later dropped the murder charge.
Timberlake had previously told authorities that his son died after falling down the stairs and sustaining fatal injuries.
Despite the efforts of health workers, Sinclair died shortly after the incident in 2014. However, Timberlake’s claims were denied by his wife, Esther Arunga, who told the police that her husband killed the little boy by punching him in the stomach and throwing him against the wall.
He was found guilty of complicity in his son’s murder by attempting to conceal the truth about the events that led to Sinclair’s death.
The court is scheduled to sentence Timberlake on September 29 this year.
