”We will completely stop livestock theft and banditry” Kithure Kindiki.

The government has intensified the fight against banditry and livestock theft in the country.

Internal Security Minister Kithure Kindiki on Friday stressed that the days of armed criminals torturing people with impunity are over.

“The Kenyan government under the leadership of President William Ruto will fulfill all its promises and we are determined to put an end to the shame of livestock theft and banditry,” Kindiki said.

Highlighting some of the measures taken, the head of the interior said that important ground has been covered in tracking down and isolating armed criminals who have turned the Northern Rift Valley, Upper East and Coast regions into their territory, killing men, women and children, making them economically poor.

Kindiki also said that security officers are directed to go after criminals without mercy and use the guns they were legally given to protect the people of Kenya and their property.

“Any armed security officer will be sent on a one-way trip. Regarding security, I promised you that 2023 is the year to end cattle theft and banditry,” he added.

Kindiki was speaking in Isiolo where he opened a unit to fight property theft in Mulango.

He was accompanied by Isiolo Governor Abdi Hassn Guyo, his Deputy Joseph Lowasa, Senator Fatuma Dulo, Women’s Representative Mumina Bonaya, and the Security and Intelligence Committees of the Eastern Region and Isiolo County among others.

The minister promised that the government will establish more security camps, will deploy special security officers and administrative units of the commission to bring services closer to the people.
