Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has revealed the main reason why he does not disclose the total number of his children.
In an interview with The Star newspaper, 63-year-old Khalwale admitted that it’s true the children he celebrates qualifying in national exams almost every year are indeed his but he flatly refused to reveal the exact number of his sons in total.
Khalwale said that in his family, there’s history of giving birth to twins from his grandmother’s lineage.
“It’s true, i send messages to those children with congratulatory messages and it’s also true that the children I am posting are mine. The reason you see me always free to do that, is because I have a history of twins. My grandmother was a twin. My father was a twin. So the twin genes are in me,” he said.
The politician admitted that even in his family, he has twins, his second and third wives gave him twins three times.
”Right now I have two sets of university twins. In total, I have 5 children in universities right now,” Khalwale said.
He refrained from naming the exact number of his children, pointing out that according to the traditions and culture of people from the Abaluhya community, it is taboo to count the number of children.
“When I stop counting, that’s when I can tell the number of my children. But for a full-blooded Luhya, counting children should not happen, not until you fall and faint,” he told the newspaper.
Khalwale is a great lover of the Luhya culture saying that his high level education did not stop him at all in the culture of his beloved community.
”My English and studies didn’t take me out of the culture, where I grew up, when I go back to the culture of my community I am always attractive,” he said.
