Former Citizen TV journalist Kimani Mbugua has appealed to Kenyans to help him recover his life after being discharged from the hospital.
In a video that went viral on social media on Sunday, Mbugua said he fell ill in 2020 and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
“I left the hospital last week and I feel my mind has returned to normal and I don’t want to go back to where I was before,” he said.
Mbugua noted that he is currently homeless because the people who welcomed him earlier told him to seek another alternative.
“I came looking for someone else who could welcome me but I didn’t find him. I just need your help,” he said.
Kimani has been out of the hospital for a week, he already has a business plan and his first proposal to a client with a corporate structure.
He said he is currently looking for a serious businessman who will bring in money to help his idea start.
Noting he did not want to suffer in silence and therefore decided to seek help from Kenyans.
“I realized I can suffer in silence and not talk about depression again and go back to drugs. I don’t want to go back there,” he said.
Mbugua has not used drugs for two months and he does not want to go back again. He was abusing marijuana and cigarettes.
He is finally on the mend even if he doesn’t have a roof over his head.
He said he lost a lot including friends in his recovery journey.
“I am in a situation where many people are not ready to help, they say they are tired,” he said.
He noted that he even borrowed the phone he used to take the video asking for help and put it on social platforms.
“If you want to help me, my email is danielkimani2027@gmail.com,” he said.
Kimani joined the media industry at the age of 19 when he begun Nation Media Group as a university student in training.
He worked with the radio department at Nation for three years before joining Royal Media Services where he worked for Citizen TV, Inooro fm and Hot 96.
