A 26-year-old Kenyan was found with 4 kilos of cocaine worth about Shs. 300 million.
The suspect, who had arrived from Ethiopia via Qatar, was arrested on Sunday Sep 24 at the arrivals terminal of the airport by officers of the Narcotics Control Unit.
He was arrested and handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigation.

Sri Lankan law criminalizes not only trafficking but also possession of drugs. The sentence varies depending on the amount of drugs you have.
If the police find someone with less than one gram of drugs and the person is sent to rehab, the person will be sent to a correctional facility by a judge.
If the person has more than one gram, they will be remanded in custody until a state toxicologist issues a toxicology report on the exact amount of pure drugs, such as cocaine or heroin, in their possession.
If it is more than two grams, the person – if found guilty – will be sentenced to death and prevented from being hanged, due to the existence of a moratorium. This is how strict drug laws are in Sri Lanka.
