Anne Waiguru re-elected as the chairperson of the council of Governors.

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru was elected on Monday to serve a second term as the chairman of the Council of Governors (CoG).

The governor was elected through a general consensus during a full council meeting held in Nairobi.

After winning her second term, Waiguru revealed she will focus on full devolution of work and resources as well as increasing revenue allocation to the county.

In addition, Waiguru who is serving a second term as governor promised to find ways to support counties in improving their income.

Other areas that the governor has promised to focus on include the success of the provision of health services for all, the development of the agricultural value chain, value addition and trade.

Waiguru was first elected as CoG chairman in September 2022 after defeating Kajiado Governor Ole Lenku who was preceded by Azimio.

Waiguru has also been calling for the reorganization of regional development authorities and government agencies that run county government activities.
