Over the weekend, popular Kenyan content creator Kelvin Kinuthia faced sensitive questions about his gender and love preferences.
A curious fan wrote him a message on Instagram asking him to clarify if he is gay, probably due to his crossdressing habit.
“Are you gay,” the fan asked.
In his answer, the entertainer did not say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ but noted that the question is already out of date.
“This one is still asking. Heehh, you are in the era of early man. This question is out of date,” Kinuthia replied jokingly.
Another fan wanted to know if he is bisexual or if he dresses as a woman just to maintain his brand.
“Now what is intersex,” Kinuthia answered.
It is not the first time Kenyans have questioned Kinuthia’s gender and his sexuality, people have been asking a lot of questions since the tiktoker became famous in 2021. He rose to fame about two years ago when rumors emerged that he cheated on another man after pretending to be a woman and later eat the fare of Ksh344k allegedly sent to him.
Last year, the 22-year-old content creator came out as male.
During an interview with Mungai Eve, he said that playing female characters in his videos is just for fun and work.
Kinuthia noted that he has never denied his male gender. However, he made it clear that he is not ready to stop acting as a woman because that is his livelihood.
“I’m a man. But I said I can’t stop doing the things I’m doing because people have interfered with me saying I’m doing that and I’m a man. That’s what has brought me to where I am,” Kinuthia said.
He claimed that the female role he plays has made him land advertisement jobs doing ads for women’s clothing and cosmetics.
“There is no such thing as I will start changing the character. Even though people leave. There are people already used to the way Kinuthia is. There is no place where I have ever said I am not a man. It’s job which has brought me to where I am,” he said.
In another interview, he hinted that he plans to have his family in the near future.
However, he noted he is not looking to venture into marriage soon but after about 10 years.
“Not this hour, maybe when I’m 30 years old when we’re done with life. This hour is to enjoy life and find money,” he said.
In the past, Kinuthia’s mother once said she would be very happy when her son would send her daughter-in-law.
