Man to serve a 28-year sentence for stabbing and stealing Sh41,000 from his friend.

Wesley Sigilai was on his way home on the night of August 7, 2017, in Nkaron village in Narok sub-county, when he saw a man following him.

Since it was 5pm, Sigilai became suspicious as the person behind him passed and went back again.

Ezra Kimutai Sigei, as he would later be identified, continued to follow but at some point he disappeared into the forest apparently avoiding other villagers who were using the road.

When Sigei resurfaced, Sigilai remembers being knocked to the ground, then stabbed on both sides of his face near the ears and upper left eye.

During the attack, Sigei told his victim that he had been looking for him.

Sigilai’s assailant would further hit him in the upper chest and grab him by the throat before robbing him of Sh41,800, leaving him unconscious.

Luckily for the victim, he was rescued by the people who escorted him home and was later taken to Longisa Hospital where he regained consciousness.

It would later be revealed that after the violent robbery, Sigei visited Kiprono Mutai around 9 in the morning.

Barefoot Sigei invited Mutai to go with him so they could spend what he called election money.

While on the way, the man realized that Sigei had a lot of money and became suspicious, fearing that it would be stolen.

Later when Mutai heard that someone had been robbed, he suspected someone else because he had seen him with blood on his fingers.

Nine days later, on August 16, Sigilai filed a theft report against Sigei who was found on the day of the incident at the Melelo police station.

The police were led to the scene by the witness, where they found a flashlight, shoes and a jacket.

Moments later he heard people shouting from the street and when he ran out of curiosity to the scene, he found Sigilai lying down.

The man was bleeding from the right ear, forehead and head.

Along with others, Cheruiyot helped Sigilai at his home and later escorted him to the hospital.
