”I am back to wearing suits.” Isaac Mwaura ditches kitenge for suits after Government appointment.

Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has spoken about his love for African attire which he now says he will give up on and start wearing suits following his appointment.

Mwaura said he is a lover of ‘vitenge’ and jeans which is his signature outfit.

“”Manzee!! Nimerudi zile stori za kuvaa masuti na ndio nilikuwa naenjoy mavitenge na majeans! Kila kitu na majira yake aisee!!” The former nominated senator wrote.

Suits are considered formal attire in the business world but many government officials prefer them to casual attire.

Mwaura’s predecessor Cyrus Oguna often addressed the nation in a suit.

Following his appointment as government spokesperson on Wednesday, the former Senator-designate addressed the nation on Thursday with Education Minister Ezekiel Machogu.

“I will refer to the weekly briefing in a bigger way soon. Access to information is a right under article 35 of the Constitution,” he said.

Mwaura added that he is happy to be considered to serve in that position.

“I thank God very much for the opportunity to be the fifth spokesperson under the fifth President…I thank President William Ruto and his deputy for seeing fit to appoint me as the official government spokesperson,” he said.

“Glory be to God! He is very faithful to those who wait for him. What God has set for you he will surely achieve no matter how long it takes,” Mwaura said through a statement on X, formerly Twitter.

Mwaura will be his deputy and the famous TV journalist Mwanaisha Chidzunga and Gabriel Muthuma.

He was among the 50 Principal Secretaries appointed by Ruto in the office of Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi.

The court, however, declared the appointment unconstitutional.
