The pastor of the church of New life Prayer Center Mavueni Ezekiel Odero has asked artists of gospel songs to examine the lyrics of their songs so they have good values that glorify the name of God.
The church leader said this during the service with his followers while showing them an example of a video of a song by a gospel artist known as Moji Short Baba.
A song with the lyrics “oyooyoo ayayaaa densi ya kanisa densi ya kanisa,,” the lyrics said.
”Mnataka kumtukuza Mungu kwa nyimbo kama hizi,hakuna mtu ako na ladha ya miziki kama hizi,hata sauti iwe inasifiwa sana hakuna anaye taka kumtukuza Muumba wake Kwa nyimbo hizi,” said pastor Ezekiel.
The pastor continued to give statement to his followers saying it is not only singing that pleases God but the words of respect for the artist’s lyrics to glorify God.
”Kuimba isiwe ni kwenda tu studio na kutoa nyimbo ili kumfurahisha mwanadamu ila kuwe kwa utunzi wa nyimbo zenye mfano mwema na zenye misamiati ya heshima kwa Mungu” He said.
Moji in an interview with Youtube blogger, according to him, his songs are to glorify his Creator and not just to please humans. “I sing to glorify Christ, not to please man,” said the gospel artist.
