It’s surprising and sweet how music can be a tool to convey message, entertain, inspire, educate, and also mourn a loved one, all these depends on who is singing and listening.
Kenyan hiphop artist Kennedy ombima alias King Kaka may have seen what will happen to Kenya through his song ‘Wajinga Nyinyi’ released in 2019 which highlighted the consequences of not choosing good leaders.
He proved music is universal after he came up with ‘Wajinga nyinyi’ Song which had also put his life in danger as it exposed the evil and lies by many politicians who even today are occupying public offices.
At the beginning of the video which is 6 minutes and 57 seconds long, the rapper is heard saying ”Dear lord, today I come before you for two things. Grateful for keeping me alive, even though unajua my day na kutupea Wakenya monisha Asante”
The artist continues by saying:
Sisi ni vipofu na viziwi na tunajua translater wetu alishadedi, 2022 already si mnajua nani ni Prezzo, si mnajua nyinyi voters ndo washenzi. Kwani hamjui mdomo yangu ilibatizwa na wakongwe. So nashangaa mbona Akili zenu time ya Kura zinajanga shonde
Also, in the video, he explained how after election, many politicians disappear from the public, including those who were voted for, and even forget the promises they made, forcing Kenyans to starve after making bad choices.
”Piga tu kura na utalala bila kula. A night of tears, nanii skiza na macho na ona na your ears.”
Two days after the song was released, the rapper had alleged his life was in danger and he needed prayers, although in one of the lines in the song he said he wouldn’t be afraid of the repercussions it would bring fourth.
The Artist was summoned and appeared before the DCI Headquarters in Kiambu, his manager confirmed at the time.
Dennis Njenga told Journalists the artist had been told to appear before the DCI immediately and they were on their way to Kiambu.
The summon came a day after Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru threatened to sue the artist over defamation.
Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdulahi had vowed to represent the rapper against any defamation case from his song.
Activist Boniface Mwangi at the time confirmed he spoke to King Kaka who informed him he had been summoned.
”His friends, fellow artistes and Kenyans of goodwill are joining him at DCI Headquarters, Kiambu Road, at 12 pm. If you’re able to join us, see you there,” he tweeted.
Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru had moved to court against King Kaka over his controversial song ‘Wajinga Nyinyi’
Waiguru said the Song released had sought to link her with the National Youth Service scandals.
In a demand letter dated December 15, 2019 her lawyers Kiragu Wathuta and Company Advocates, said King Kaka uttered various allegations and innuendos concerning her which were wholly false and deceptive.

He was also asked to permanently, immediately and unconditionally withdraw, pull down and or delete the song from all social media platforms including but not limited to X and YouTube.
But if we go back a few days before the release of the song, and looking at life now we can say the artist saw what many did not see.
