Members of parliament in the national parliament on Thursday morning passed a motion aimed at sending 1000 officers to Haiti to lead the operation to restore peace and security to the streets.
In a morning vote on Thursday, lawmakers adopted a joint committee report that had recommended that Congress authorize the deployment of police to Haiti.
“The Committee after reviewing Kenya’s obligations to the United Nations, its existing legal framework, submissions through public participation and stakeholder submissions recommends that Parliament approve the proposals for the deployment of the National Police Service to the International Security Assistance Mission ( MSS) to Haiti under conditions. of the Constitution,” the joint team suggested.
This is after the Kenyan government said that it was pleased to contribute to the security of the Caribbean country which has long been plagued by dangerous gangs.
The calling of the proposal now allows police officers to be deployed in every police station across the country to build a team of at least 1000 policemen in the mission.
The government’s decision to send the soldiers has been seen as controversial and the lawyer had already gone to court wanting to completely stop the deployment of the officers.
