The leader of Azimio-one Kenya Alliance, Raila Odinga, has asked two ministers to resign immediately.
Speaking on Monday, he said Energy Minister Davis Chirchir and Finance Minister Njuguna Ndung’u need to resign over the Sh17 billion oil deal.
According to Raila, the two have committed criminal offences.
“Ministers Davis Chirchir and Njuguna Ndung’u have gone against the constitution, committed criminal offenses and misused their offices. they must not only resign but also be prosecuted,” he said.
“Also, the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum must publicly announce the Purchase and Supply Agreement signed by the oil companies,” he added.
The leader of Azimio claimed the government-to-government program is a corruption scandal created to withdraw money from the treasury against the law.
In addition, Raila accused President William Ruto of telling many false stories about the agreement.
“We challenge the Government to share the evidence of the payment of the fuel and show the documents that show when it was made, the bank accounts and those who received the money,” he said.
Raila also wants an investigation into the violation of consumer rights, the transparency of fuel contracts, criminal conspiracy through price fixing in the alleged government-to-government fuel program.
On Saturday, Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah drew attention to the Sh17 billion oil scandal and asked two cabinet secretaries to tell Kenyans the real story related to the matter.
The MP wants Murkomen and Chirchir to come forward and tell the truth about what they know.
The Sh17 billion saga involves Ann Njeri Njoroge who claimed the government illegally stole her fuel that was going to Kenya.
She claimed she was detained by government intelligence officers while the government dumped the ship that was carrying the oil in the Port of Mombasa.
However, Omtatah claimed there is more than meets the eye and the two ministers may know a lot of information about the issue that they are hiding from Kenyans.
