Jada Pinkett credits Oscar ‘holy slap’ for saving her marriage.

Jada Pinkett Smith has emerged once again and is now claiming that the famous slap at last year’s Oscars ceremony saved her marriage in a unique way.

The Emmy-nominated talk show host and actress opened up in an interview with the Daily Mail about how her husband’s slap during the 2022 Academy Awards helped her realize they will always be together.

According to the actress who in recent weeks has been talking about many things, the slap of her husband Will Smith to the comedian Chris Rock opened her eyes and mind to see how much Smith loves her and thus increased the love she had for him.

“After all those years of trying to figure out if I was going to leave Will’s side, it took that slap in the face for me to see I would never leave him,” Pinkett Smith told the Daily Mail. “Who knows where our relationship would be if that hadn’t happened?”

In October, the 52-year-old actress revealed during a special on NBC that she and Smith – who married in 1997 – split seven years ago after the couple “got tired of trying” to fix some issues in their marriage.

Pinkett Smith told NBC News that it wasn’t a divorce “on paper,” but it was definitely a divorce in their minds, even as the couple continued to present it to the public.

Things changed for the couple after the I Am Legend star, 55, decided to slap Rock after the comedian made a joke about Pinkett Smith’s almost bald head, which is caused by her alopecia.

“I call it a ‘holy slap’ now because so many good things came after it,” She told the Daily Mail. “I almost didn’t even attend the Oscars that year, but I’m glad I did.”

Pinkett Smith is currently promoting her new memoir, Worthy, which was released on October 17.
