Comedian Erastus Ayieko Otieno, popularly known as Flaqo, recently revealed his battle with a severe health issue that led to the cancellation of several gigs. He took to social media to express gratitude and shared his struggle with hives/urticaria, a skin rash triggered by various factors like food, medicine, or irritants.
Flaqo disclosed that he had been coping with this condition for nearly nine years, enduring discomfort that often deprived him of sleep each night.
In his social media post, Flaqo acknowledged the challenges caused by the condition, which even disrupted his shooting schedules, affecting his ability to consistently produce content for his fans.
However, Flaqo reassured his supporters of his improving health status, crediting his recovery to prayer, mental health care, and a more relaxed approach to life. He emphasized the importance of addressing mental health issues and shared that he had been free of allergic reactions for the past three months.
In a recent interview, Flaqo opened up about the difficulties he faced and how fellow artist Bien of Sauti Sol supported him by connecting him with a therapist during a particularly challenging period.
Additionally, Flaqo mentioned his earnings during the Covid-19 pandemic, estimating them to be around Sh20 million, largely attributed to his creative endeavors during the period.
Flaqo’s journey highlights the importance of prioritizing both physical and mental well-being, and his openness about his struggles serves as an inspiration to many facing similar challenges.
