In a recent development, three individuals, namely Nelson Munyaka, a Court Assistant, Accountant David Mwaura, and Court Driver William Musembi, were apprehended by police officers from Nunguni Police Post in Makueni. The trio is facing allegations of issuing forged court receipts, leading to their arrest on Wednesday.
The charges against the suspects involve the issuance of counterfeit receipts for court fines and forfeitures, supposedly facilitating the release of accused individuals from both court and police custody. The fraudulent activity involved the creation of fake receipts totaling Kshs 161,000. Investigations have revealed that these fabricated documents were issued between February 14, 2024, and February 16, 2024, particularly in relation to traffic cases where accused persons had pleaded guilty and were fined.
An officer from Nunguni police station confirmed the discovery, stating, “They forged receipts amounting to Kshs 161,000, and we established that they were issued between Feb 14, 2024, and Feb 16, 2024, in respect to some traffic cases where accused persons had pleaded guilty and fined.”
