Kipchumba Murkomen, a prominent Kenyan politician and former Cabinet Secretary for Transport, has been at the center of various scandals throughout his career. Our research at Kenya Gossip highlights significant controversies surrounding him.
In 2017, Murkomen faced accusations from a parliamentary committee alleging his law firm, Sing’oei Murkomen and Sigei Associates, withheld crucial information regarding Ksh12 billion misappropriated from the NYS. Although the High Court later cleared him, stating that the committee’s actions violated his right to fair administrative action, the allegations of money laundering persisted.
More recently, in 2023, Murkomen threatened legal action against Senator Samson Cherargei, who claimed he accepted a Sh15.3 billion bribe from a Chinese contractor. Murkomen vehemently denied these allegations, asserting that he had not engaged in corrupt activities during his time in office.
Additionally, Murkomen has had to refute rumors about being detained in Dubai with millions of dollars, which he described as absurd. He emphasized that during his tenure, no one has accused him of corruption, maintaining a stance of integrity amid the swirling gossip and allegations.
These scandals have significantly impacted Murkomen’s political image, raising questions about transparency and accountability in Kenyan politics.
