The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President, Nick Mwendwa, hailed FKF’s recent collaboration with FIFA as a milestone in Kenyan football. The two-day FIFA Club Professionalization and Management Workshop, held for FKF Premier League club executives, aimed to elevate club management standards by equipping attendees with essential skills in strategy, governance, and financial planning.
Reflecting on the workshop, Mwendwa emphasized the need for Kenyan clubs to commercialize and grow sustainably. “This is so important. Clubs are the bread and butter of football… I’m happy we’re the second country in Africa to get this training,” he stated. Mwendwa highlighted the importance of adopting best practices from highly developed football systems in Europe, which are known for integrating youth academies and attracting large fan bases.
With distinguished FIFA representatives like Senior Professional Football Manager Marcos Picalló Aguilar and consultants from Next Sports, club leaders gained valuable insights and management strategies. Mwendwa expressed hope that these initiatives will allow Kenyan clubs to expand their reach and financial potential, ultimately positioning Kenya prominently in global football.
